I got to take miss bug up to visit my parents in Alaska for 2 weeks. She loved being on the boat and enjoyed all the water everywhere!

a beach down in Mexico
We got our honeymoon in before our first anniversary! It was a little tricky to plan since we had to move some pre-scheduled vacation time around but once we got the okay we booked a little getaway down to Cancun. We spent 5 days there at a beautiful new resort and took in lots of sand and sun. Love that it was just over a 2 hour flight from DFW so we weren't spending too much precious time traveling.
Oh, I miss the ocean more than I thought. Even if I'm not IN the water, I really like being by it.
Trashy beach reads + all day daiquiris = perfection
A little adventure day out zip lining, cave exploring and on the ATVs
My apartment pool could not compare to the one at the resort. I may need a pool boy/bartender here, hmmm.....

Austin Getaway!
It's been awhile since both mine and Chad's schedules have worked out that we're both free on the weekend, so when it finally happened we took advantage and drove to Austin. He had to work overnight on Friday so when he got home at 7 I drove the 3 hours there so he could get a little bit of sleep in. Saturday was really rainy so we didn't get many pictures in.
There's 2 outlet malls just south of Austin that we did some shopping at before going to our hotel to get ready for our night out! We went to see Matt Bearden at Cap City Comedy, which was a great time. I haven't laughed that hard in awhile. After the show we went downtown to 6th Street to check out all the bars. SXSW was just getting geared up so it was really busy and people were everywhere. After spending a couple hours bar hopping (literally just door to door) we ended up dancing at some bar with an open roof in the rain before it got too heavy that required them closing the ceiling back up.

DAY 8 - PLACE YOU'VE TRAVELED TO
I've been to Aruba twice. Once in 2007 with my parents and brother and then again in 2008 with my family and Chad. Both times were a blast. There is a lot to do there and it's easy to get around on your own in a rental car. The first year we stayed at a hotel on the beach and the second year rented a house with it's own pool.
There's a nice side to the island, where the hotels and beaches are, and a rocky side where you don't go swimming, but there's amazing waves that crash along the shore. There are a few little pools that water washes into, but the day we went it was too windy.
This is one of my favorite pictures of Chad. We took a trip on a pirate ship to do some snorkeling. Between the sites they take you to see (a couple different reefs and a shipwreck) you get lots of yummy drinks : )
We spent New Year's on the beach watching fireworks.
Both trips we did some windsurfing -- wish we'd done more, but it wasn't for everybody.
